Since it is to be stored in the overhead compartments over your seat, these bags have a smaller weight and size restriction. For which, Emirates states that the dimensions of the bags carried for cabin luggage should not exceed the (55 x 38 x 20) centimetres or (22 x 15 x 8) inches limit including the wheels and handles.

  • For the travellers of Business Class and First Class, the carry-on luggage allowance is of a 7kg cabin bag as well as a 7kg Briefcase or a Garment bag to carry personal items.
  • If you have an infant on board as well, you are permitted to carry either a carry-cot or a fully collapsible stroller into the cabin (subject to the availability of space). Otherwise, these items will have to be a part of the check-in baggage of the passenger.

Checked Baggage

There are two types of checked baggage allowance that you get with Emirates.

By weight concept rule.

The weight concept rule states that your allowance of free baggage is dependent upon the total weight of all your baggage and not the bags. In other words, a passenger can check in as many bags as he/she wants provided that it remains under the total weight limit.

Each bag should not exceed the maximum weight limit of 32kg as well as the sum of dimensions (length + width + height) of an individual bag of 300 cm (118 inches).

This weight concept rule of Emirates applies to all of its routes, except for Africa and America. As per the weight connect rules, passengers can carry a maximum weight of;

  1. Economy Class – 20 kg.
  2. Premium Economy class – 35 kg.
  3. Business Class – 40 kg.
  4. First Class – 50 kg.

By piece concept rule.

If you go by the price concept rule Emirates flight from UK to Dubai, the passengers can only check in a certain number of bags, each having a specific weight and size allowance as per your travel class.

The piece concept rule applies to all of the flights of Emirates from the Americas and flights originating in Africa.

  1. Economy Class ticket holders can carry 1 bag up to 23 kg (for Special fares) and 2 bags up to 23kg maximum (for Saver, Flex, and Flex Plus fares).
  2. Premium Economy class passengers get 2 pieces of checked baggage with a weight of up to 23kg each.
  3. Business Class travelers have an allowance of 2 bags with a 32kg max weight (per bag).
  4. First-class passengers also get 2 pieces of checked baggage with a maximum weight of up to 32kg each.

Note that the sum of dimensions (length + width + height) for each bag by piece concept rule of Emirates’ checked baggage policy must not exceed the 150 cm (or 59 inches) limit.

Excess baggage policy

  • If your carry-on luggage or checked baggage exceeds these specific limits, it would come under the overweight, oversized or excess baggage category which is subject to an additional fee and availability.
  • If your carry-on luggage is overweight, it can be easily adjusted in the checked baggage. However, for the overweight checked baggage, you need to pay extra for carrying it or compromise and not travel with the extra weight.
  • The fee for excess baggage would depend upon your fare class, travel route, flight type and seasonality.

So, that is the Emirates airline baggage allowance policy and give the best offer in the cheapest month to fly to London.
